Lynn Parrish Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel - Grand Ledge on Feb. 6, 2025.
Lynn Jerold Parrish, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on February 3, 2025, in Lansing, Michigan. Born on August 18, 1969, in Tokyo, Japan, Lynn's journey in life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family and country.
Lynn grew up with the warmth of his loving parents, Stanley and Donna (Bowers) Parrish, who preceded him in death. He was a proud graduate of Texas Ballinger high school, where he began to shape his future with determination and a sense of purpose. His educational journey was a testament to his belief in the importance of hard work and perseverance.
After high school, Lynn felt a strong calling to serve his country, leading him to enlist in the Army and National Guard. His service was characterized by honor and bravery, laying a foundation for his later career. Lynn's dedication to public service continued as he retired from the State of Michigan as a corrections officer after 22 years of commendable service. Not one to settle into retirement, Lynn returned to serve as Deputy of Ingham County Sheriff's Office for three remarkable years, where he was respected for his integrity and leadership.
Family was the cornerstone of Lynn's life. He was a loving husband to his wife of 11 years, Melissa Parrish, and a devoted father to Ryan (Cristina Santiago) Parrish, Emily (Nicholas Killian) Cook, and Grayson (Haylee Buffington) Cook. His role as a grandfather to Loren Montoya filled him with immense joy and pride. Lynn was a beloved brother to Maxine Parrish and Howard (Shannon) Parrish, and he held a special place in his heart for his close friends Kristine King, Walt Reynolds, Kamari Earl, and Brent (Beckee) Fleck.
Lynn's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. He was an avid cook who loved to create culinary delights for his family and friends. His enthusiasm for sports was evident in his love for hockey, football, and especially baseball, and he was a dedicated fan of the University of Michigan. Lynn found solace and excitement in the pages of Stephen King and James Patterson novels, and he cherished the humor found in Calvin & Hobbes comic strips.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. I remember carpooling with Lynn briefly when I was a corrections RN at MTU and he worked across the street. My partner and I had lunch with him and his wife, Melissa. I didn´t know him well but I immediately felt the kindness and nurturing energy he radiated. He obviously loved her very much. You could tell he was a giver and a nurturer. A very good soul.
