Lynn Sandom Obituary
Published by Legacy on Nov. 5, 2025.
Our dearly loved Lynn, age 48, passed away peacefully in the morning of October 29, 2025, after a decade-long and courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Battend, and her grandparents, Julia and Ernesto Rivera.
Lynn was a light that naturally drew your attention and warmed the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Funny and kind, she had an uncanny ability to connect deeply with people-whether lifelong friends or someone she'd just met. She was the friend who showed up, who listened, who always put others' needs ahead of her own. Even from her hospital bed at home in her final weeks, Lynn continued to treat everyone who came to see her as cherished guests. When speech became more difficult, she still found ways to share her gifts-persisting to communicate an observation or gratitude just to make others smile.
Lynn began her professional journey in marketing and advertising, first at Medicus in New York City, where she met the love of her life, Brian, and then at Cline Davis & Mann. The two eventually moved to the Twin Cities, where Brian grew up. Always curious and compassionate, Lynn pursued a new calling in holistic care, earning her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2008. Not long after graduation, Lynn and Brian relocated to New Hampshire, where they owned and operated Hollis Family Chiropractic before returning two years later to Minnesota-her now adopted home-where she rediscovered to her marketing acumen. Lynn joined the team at Gage Marketing and then spent over a decade at Target Corporation, contributing her creativity and leadership to countless projects and colleagues who adored her.
A proud New Jersey native, Lynn attended St. Rose Grammar School in Belmar and graduated from Wall High School in 1995. She earned degrees from the Fashion Institute of Technology (1999) and Georgian Court University (2002) before pursuing her chiropractic studies.
Though Lynn had no children of her own, she had a special gift with kids-loving her niece and nephew, Cambrie and Riley, as if they were her own, and forming cherished bonds with her friends' children and the young ones in her Mackey Avenue neighborhood.
Lynn had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. She visited Norway many times to spend time with Brian's family and Puerto Rico to connect with her mother's roots. She cherished unforgettable trips to Switzerland, Iceland, Costa Rica, Ireland, London, and Banff (Canada)-each one filled with laughter, beauty, and memories she carried close to her heart.
Lynn is survived by her devoted husband, Brian; her loving mother, Carmen; her brother, Andrew; in-laws Hans and Kathy; brother-in-law, Rob; and beloved niece and nephew, Cambrie and Riley. Further survived by many loving and dear friends. Special thanks to the Frauenshuh Cancer Center and Park Nicollet Hospice Care teams, the Mackey Avenue crew (best block ever), and her close friends/caregivers, Lisa Musto and Nicole Weber.
Lynn will be remembered for her humor, generosity, and radiant spirit-a shining soul who made every space brighter simply by being in it.
