Lynne Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kehl's Palmer Legacy Funeral Home on Feb. 2, 2026.
Lynne Anderson Brown, age 89 passed away on January 27th, 2026 surrounded by loved ones at her home in Palmer, Alaska. She was the 3rd of 10 children (2 of which died as infants) to Constance (Porter) and Clyde Leroy Anderson in Safford, Arizona on January 1st 1937. She developed rickets as a child as she spent most of the first year of her life in a crib because her mother was pregnant with her irish twin younger brother Chris, who was born 11 months later. The family moved to Salt Lake City, UT when she was 5 years old and then to Alpine Utah when she started junior high school. Her father passed away when she was 16 years old on the night of her junior prom. She graduated from BYU in elementary education in 1959 and worked as a kindergarten teacher in at the same school her mother was a teacher at in American Fork for several years. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hawaii. At the age of 27, she married Glenn Louis Brown on April 30th 1964 in Manti, Utah. After Glenn graduated from BYU, they moved to Colorado, Oklahoma and back to Colorado while Glenn was completing his physical therapy and physician's assistant schooling. In 1974, while pregnant with her youngest, she and Glenn packed up their 4 kids and drove up the Alaska Highway to make Alaska their home for the rest of their lives. They settled in Eagle River until 1999 with a 3-year stint in Dutch Harbor where Glenn served as the medical director from 1979-1982 at the Unalaska medical clinic. Lynne served as a customs agent while in Dutch Harbor. After returning to Eagle River, Lynne went back to school to get her special education degree and became a sub for the Anchorage School District for a time. In 1987, Lynne became the accountant and "other duties as assigned" for Glenn's private physical therapy and medical clinic in Chugiak. They moved to Fairbanks in 1999 to be near grandkids and shortly thereafter served 2 missions together (in Argentina and Paraguay/Uruguay/Bolivia). In 2010 Lynne and Glenn bought land in Palmer and built Glenn's retirement garage with a little apartment where she has lived ever since.

Lynne enjoyed doing puzzles, reading everything with printed words (according to Glenn), quilting and doing family history. She was a life-long active and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various callings throughout her life, her favorites of which were working with the children in the primary.

Lynne was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas & Connie Anderson; siblings Mary Lou, Clyde Thomas, Lorraine, Chris, Brian, Faye, and Elaine as well as her husband Glenn. She is survived by her siblings Ann and Jerry, her children Amber (Lance) Cheney of Fairbanks, AK, Andy of Clearwater, FL, Stefani (Ben) Borrego of Pinetop, AZ, Suzy (Roger) Spackman of Eagle River, AK, and Robert (Jessica) of Palmer, AK. Her 25 grandchildren include: Celia, Caleb, Darin, Clara, Sonia & Daniel Cheney; Katherine, Sarah, Christian, Benjamin, & Sam Brown; Sam, Sloane, Saige, Schae & Ashton Borrego; Trevor (Laura), Maddy Hickok (Eli), Hayden, & Spencer

Spackman; Bella, Kinley, Britain, Caden & Emma Brown. Her great grandkids include Peter Spackman, Arthur Spackman and Collins Hickok.

We are grateful for Lynne's firm foundation and faith in the Lord. She will be greatly missed.

It has been a blessing to know Lynne and her husband Glenn! We enjoyed serving with each other in the same Ward for many years; we also were thankful to have a clinic, Glenn's, in Chugiak. Many a time one of our kids had a little injury.... Glenn and his staff were ready to help.
Lynne was a patient and talented teacher, full of good wits and fun. Her knowledge was gained by reading a variety of subjects and it was interesting to converse with and learn from her!
Our hearts reach out to yours, with love and sympathy!
