Lynne Curran Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Homes - Chicago on Feb. 25, 2026.
Lynne A. Curran (nee Behles), beloved wife of Larry, loving mother of Michele (Mike) Finn, Pam (Brian) Smith, and Larry (Emily), passed away surrounded by family. Lynne was a devoted grandmother of Megan and Abby Curran, Sean and Luke Smith and proud step-grandmother of Michael (Jasmine) and Patrick (Victoria) Finn. She is survived by her brother, Gary Behles, and was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Nell Behles, and her brother, Peter (Linda) Behles. She was a loving aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Raised on the northwest side of Chicago, Lynne was a lifelong member of St. Tarcissus Parish (now St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Church), where she attended grade school with her brothers, Pete and Gary. As a child, she could often be found helping her mother at church or playing ball at Rosedale Park. She competed fearlessly in football, softball, and basketball alongside her older brother and his friends, later playing competitive sports for many years.

Lynne and Larry were married in 1976. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 9, 2026. Together they raised their three children in the St. Tars community, where Lynne became a constant and caring presence. She worked at the school and coached countless softball and basketball teams, always willing to help out, whether with coaching, running the concession stand, announcing teams at annual intramural, decorating for the 8 th grade dance or other events at school. She gave her time generously and made the school community stronger through her energy and heart.

When her children became parents, Lynne embraced her role as grandmother with the same devotion. She treasured time with her grandchildren and, even when illness made it difficult for her to attend their games and events, she did her best to always be there.

Lynne's dedication and work ethic influenced every aspect of her life. She built a career in the airline food service industry, working tirelessly for Gate Gourmet and others. She was a loyal Cubs fan and truly bled Cubby blue, never missing an opportunity to cheer on her favorite baseball team. Easygoing and warm, Lynne had a gift for making everyone feel valued and welcome. Her infectious laugh and sparkling blue eyes could light up a room, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

After being diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, Lynne faced her illness with remarkable strength and determination. She fought courageously for four years, rising each day with resilience so she could continue to be present for her family. Her faith, humor, and unconditional love were the glue that held her family together. She will be forever missed and always remembered.
