Thomas George Lycos

Thomas G. Lycos, 92, passed away on March 18, 2026. Beloved husband of the late Esther (nee Stamas) and father of the late Maria and George (Cindy) Lycos, and Starr McCaffery. Dear "Papou" to TJ, the late JJ and Timothy (Sarah) Lycos, Tara (Jose) Valentinez, and Kelly (fiancé Mitchell Phelps), Megan and Hugh McCaffery. Great-grandfather to Elizabeth and Mateo Valentinez, and Madison and Mia Lycos. Firstborn of the late George T. and the late RoseMary (nee Kanellis), brother to the late John (Barbara), Sophia (the late Jack) Hausen, Barbara (Don) Vanover and the late Annie Lycos, and dear cousin, uncle and friend to many.

Born and raised on Chicago's northwest side, Tom was an avid sports fan who was a founder of the youth football league at Chicago's Portage Park and coached into his 70s for various youth programs in the city and suburbs. Tom also served as Parish Council President at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and Annunciation Cathedral in Chicago. He had a long career in sales and management at a Chicagoland Steelcase office furniture dealership. With Steelcase, Tom and Esther also traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia.

Funeral, Visitation, Friday, March 20, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral service 11:30 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 2727 W. Winona St. Chicago, IL. 60625. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Please omit flowers, donations in his name to St. Demetrios Church, appreciated. Arrangements by NICHOLAS M.
