Lynne Olivia Eising passed away peacefully at her home in Murphys, California, on August 24,
2025, at the age of 78, following a brief battle with cancer. Lynne was the daughter of Stephen
and Beverly Engle, both deceased. She leaves behind her husband, Tom Eising; her two sons,
Scott Kennedy and Todd Eising; and her beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Eising.
Born as Ethyl Lynn Raven on November 2, 1946, in San Francisco, Lynne's early life remains
something of a mystery. At nearly three years old, she was found abandoned on the steps of
San Francisco City Hall. She was soon adopted by Stephen and Beverly Engle of San Carlos,
California, who lovingly raised her alongside their adopted son, Steve.
Lynne grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from San Mateo High School. She later moved to
Sacramento, where she met and married Larry Kennedy. In the mid-1960s, the couple relocated
to Toronto, Canada, where their first son, Scott, was born. They returned to Sacramento two
years later, and their second son, Todd, was born.
Following her divorce, Lynne raised Scott and Todd as a devoted single mother. In 1976, she
met Tom Eising of Murphys. They married the following year and began a new chapter together
in the Sierra foothills.
Lynne dedicated much of her professional life to education and community service. She worked
as a secretary for several local businesses and as a classroom aide at Michelson Elementary
School. Her warmth and deep care for others led her to become the school's secretary-a role
she held and cherished for 17 years. To generations of local children and families, Lynne was a
steady, compassionate presence in their daily lives.
Her service to the Murphys community extended well beyond the school. She was a founding
board member of the Murphys Area Community Tennis Association and one of the original
members of the Murphys Food Drive Committee, which has raised thousands of dollars for the
Calaveras Food Bank in recent years. She also served on the Murphys Senior Center Board as
secretary and, at the time of her passing, was the secretary of the Murphys Community Club.
Lynne also started a book club that has remained active for over 25 years-a testament to her
love of literature and connection.
Lynne was deeply proud of her family. Her sons, Scott and Todd, both pursued higher education
and built meaningful careers. She took immense joy in the accomplishments of her
grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel, and remained a loving and supportive presence throughout
their lives.
Lynne's impact on her family, friends, and community is immeasurable. Her kindness, strength,
and dedication touched everyone who knew her. She lived a life of quiet strength and lasting
influence. In remembering Lynne Olivia Eising, we remember a life well lived.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Michelson Elementary School at 11:00 am on September
27, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Food Bank Benefit, P.O. Box
1656, San Andreas, CA 95249.
