Mario Louis Camardo, known professionally as M. Louis, fondly called Lou by friends, and affectionately as Skip or Skipper by family, passed away at home on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the age of 81. A resident of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, he was a man of deep faith, boundless generosity, and had a profound pride in the family he loved so much.

Born on May 1, 1944, Lou grew up in Riverton, New Jersey, where he excelled in academics and sports. He graduated from Villanova University in 1966 and earned his MBA from the University of Maryland in 1968, laying the foundation for a distinguished professional career. In June of that year, Lou began his career with the Ford Motor Company, where he worked in Human Resources for 33 years. Of his time at Ford, it has often been commented that Lou was just as comfortable on the plant floor as he was in the executive conference rooms at World Headquarters.

On October 5, 1968, Lou married the love of his life, Sara Ellen McCafferty, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Moorestown, New Jersey. Just last month, Lou & Sara joyfully celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary, a testament to a lifetime of devotion and enduring love.

Lou's Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He lived his beliefs with confident devotion, finding strength, purpose, and peace in his relationship with God. His faith shaped his values, his compassion, and the way he treated others, always with a warm smile, thoughtful word, and helping hand.

Outside of work, Lou loved to hunt and fish with good friends. He often spent quiet mornings in the woods or by the water, however, he spent as much time saying his rosary by the water's edge or napping in a deer blind, as he did hunt and fish. And as much as he enjoyed being outdoors, he equally relished the time with friends in the evening telling stories and playing cards. In all these activities and with these good friends, he found great joy.

To his friends, Lou was a steady presence warm, dependable, and always generous with his time and support. To his family, Lou's love and faith were the bedrock of their lives.

Lou is survived by his wife, Sara; his children, Betsy, Louis (Jenny), and JP (Lisa); and his ten grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy lives on in their hearts and in the values he instilled through a life well lived.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 5 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd, Garden City, MI 48135, with the Rosary being said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 AM on Thursday, November 6 with visiting at 9:30 AM at the Church of the Divine Child in Dearborn.
