Ma Guadalupe Martinez

Ma Guadalupe (Lupe) Martinez, 74, of Arkansas City, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Medicalodges in Arkansas City.

Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday December 16, 2025 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Memorials in her name may be made to the Braxton Martinez education fund and left in the care of the funeral home.

Lupe was born on December 10, 1950, in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, to parents Secundino and Donaciana (Claudio) Martinez. She received her primary and high school education in Leon and later received further education at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, KS. Lupe worked for the city of Arkansas City for 23 years, serving the community under the 'Friendship Meals' program. After retiring, Lupe dedicated her time to her grandson, who was the apple of her eye. She loved spending the days with him when he was little, spoiling him every chance she got, and was his #1 fan in everything he did. When she wasn't doting on her grandson, Lupe enjoyed reading the newspaper and watching her favorite tv shows.

Lupe is survived by her son, Rony Martinez (Kristie), grandson, Braxton Martinez, cousin, Francis Pressnall, many brothers and sisters, and numerous nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sylvia E. Martinez, and her parents.
