Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley Funeral Home - Marlton on Sep. 13, 2025.
Mabel Jane Cooper (née Mitchell) passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025 at the age of 89. Born on September 17, 1935 in Barrington, she was the daughter of the late William A. & Florence (née Spong) Mitchell. Mabel's life was characterized by her unwavering commitment to her family, her work, and her passions.
Mabel was the cherished wife of Malcolm B. Cooper Sr. for nearly seven decades, a partnership that stood as a testament to love and respect. Together, they built a family that included their loving children: Georgia (Fred) Sharp Jr., Jane Cooper, Kathy (Robert) Jaconetti, Malcolm 'Corky' Cooper Jr. (Theresa), and Kimberly (Dale) Kitchin. Her guidance and support shaped the lives of her children in countless ways.
Her legacy continued to flourish through her grandchildren: Audrey Davis (Chris Smith) Freddie Sharp III (Marie), Emily (Bryan) Rathvon, Sara (Holden) Lyles, Rachel (Mike) Guadian, Matthew (Samantha) Jaconetti, Leigh-Ayne Cooper, Malcolm 'Brant' (Elizabeth) Cooper III, Lydia Cooper, Colton Cooper, Christina (Tom) Meilhammer, and Benjamin Kitchin, as well as her 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Mabel's love and wisdom will live on in each of them. She was predeceased by her sister, the late Katharine (née Mitchell) Kraus, whose memory she held dear.
A graduate of Haddonfield High School class of 1953, Mabel's youthful spirit was showcased as a majorette. After marrying Malcolm in November 1955 and settling in Marlton, she began her secretarial career at Singer Sewing in Haddonfield. As her family grew, she seamlessly transitioned into the role of a homemaker, selling Rawleigh products and Dutchmaid clothing while raising her children.
Mabel later returned to work filling administrative roles at Stone and Webster, Braddock Insurance Agency, RCA, the law office of Gary Woodend, and finally Lockheed Martin.
Beyond her professional and family life, Mabel was a woman of many interests. She found joy in gardening, baking and cooking. Her family fondly recalls her canning and freezing delicious salsas, fruits and vegetables. Mabel's talents extended to crocheting and knitting, crafting pieces that warmed the people and hearts of those she loved.
Traveling was another of Mabel's passions. Her heart, however, always remaining at the family farm in Marlton or Pennsylvania. She often drove the tractor during hay bailing season, ensuring everyone had cold water and a hearty meal after a day's work-a true matriarch in action.
Mabel's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew her, but her spirit and the memories she created will continue to inspire and comfort her family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing on Saturday Sept 20 from 1:30-3:00pm at the Bradley Funeral Home 601 Rt 73 South Marlton where a Funeral Service will be held at 3pm. Burial to follow.
