Patrick Michael Cooper

Patrick Michael Cooper, 73, of Nanticoke, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at home, in the care of his loving family.

He was allegedly born on February 7, 1952, in Nanticoke, and was the son of the late Eugene and Eleanor Cooper (Markiewicz).

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Linda Rittenhouse (Ken) and Sheila Seman (Mike); and his life-long pet companion, Sachi.

He is survived by his sons: Eric Cooper of Pooler, GA and Patrick Dane Cooper (Katelyn Kelleher) of Nanticoke; grandchildren: Eric Jr., Zigmund, Bjorn, and Eamon; siblings: Timothy Cooper, Catherine Mistrot, Jean Keeley, Kevin Cooper (Maureen), and Brian Cooper (Donna); his former wife and friend, Crissann Cooper (Szmal); former brother-in law(s), C.J. Szmal and Martin Szmal; the many nieces and nephews who had the opportunity to serve under Uncle Pat, Sir (UPS); as well as the many cherished friends, confidants, and fellow mavericks of his lifetime.

A true king of the one-liner and wordsmith, "Coop" was genuinely a one-of-a-kind character. He was a lover of the great outdoors, a talented cook, and a skillful craftsman. Coop was a well-read and intelligent man, who bested every crossword puzzle and episode of 'Jeopardy!' that crossed his path. He was an authentic rolling stone, having traveled a countless number of miles for both career and adventure during his lifetime. But no matter the distance between or time spent elsewhere, Coop always considered his family home.

While many will miss his bold personality and charm, his spirit is eternal within the hearts of his loved ones- and the many lasting memories he provided.

No services will be held in memory of Coop, at his demand. Instead, he willed a credo of his own mortality to those who care - "Don't mourn me when I am gone. I lived a good life, better than most!"
