Mabel Elizabeth (Newkam) Beamer, age 92, of Harrisburg, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, died on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Mabel was born on Friday, November 11, 1932, in Steelton to the late Philip Newkam and Sarah (Bowers) Newkam. Mabel was the widow of Raymond Albert Beamer, Sr. In addition to her parents and husband, Mabel is preceded in death by her two daughters: Wanda L. Davis, Luann L. (Beamer) Warren; her eight siblings: Philip Newkam, Sarah Bowers, Carl Newkam, Marie Krumsick, Geneva Newkam, Jerome Newkam, James Newkam, Doris Nesmith.
Mabel’s survivors include her two children: Evonne L. Gardner of Boiling Springs, Raymond “Ray” A. Beamer and wife Linda, of Colorado; her six grandchildren: Corey Hillard, Nichole Radziwon, Jason Stimeling, Melissa Kane, Nicole Jones, Amber Kane; her eleven great-grandchildren: Zachary Hillard, Dylan Stimeling, Deziree Stimeling, Brooke Goodwin, Jacob Hillard, Logan Zygmunt, Landon Cook, Gavin Niles, Bailey Niles, Ava Cook, Bradley Miller; her two great-great-grandchildren; Ariella, Deklyn; her sister: Joann Mickle and husband William, of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Mabel graduated from Steelton High School as part of the class of 1950. She retired from Footlocker in 1993 after many years of service working as a laborer. Mabel was deeply committed to her spiritual life. She was a member of Why at the Well for many years, where she was involved in the bookstore, restaurant and bible studies. She was passionate about playing games like Scrabble, cards, and backgammon. Mabel had a love for reading and watching television programs, including Murder She Wrote and Lawrence Welk. She cherished moments spent with her sister and grandchildren and enjoyed eating out occasionally at restaurants. Mabel will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Mabel’s family will be remembering her life privately. Interment in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be at the family’s convenience. Cremation was private.
