Mabell B. Rosser, a beloved matriarch and steadfast pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on July 28, 1934, Mabell's life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family, and a genuine love for life's simple joys.
She was married to Sammie Rosser, and together they had one son, Marcus J. Rosser, who was the light of her life. Mabell was the last surviving sibling of her family, predeceased by Julia Bell Greene, Early Barnett, Virginia Walker, Evelnoia Snowden, Thelma Lay-Kendrich, Sara Frances Barnett, and Albert W. Barnett. She leaves behind her son Marcus, grandchildren Taylor Stephens and Ryan Marques Smith, sister-in-law Louise Barnett, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will hold her memory close to their hearts.
Mabell's strong work ethic guided her throughout her life. After retiring from the Bibb Company (Dan River), she embraced her role as a domestic engineer, a position she carried out with great pride and dedication. She often shared her guiding principle, "I work the job; I don't let the job work me," a reflection of her commitment and resilience. She built lasting relationships with the families she served: the Fowlers, the Connells, and the Goodsons. These families valued not only her work but also her warmth and care.
Outside of her professional life, Mabell's passions were many. Known for her impeccable sense of style, she loved yard sales, flea markets, and antique shopping. Her talent for gardening could be seen in her flourishing flower beds and vegetable gardens. She found joy in cooking, traveling with her niece Vivian, and caring for her beloved cats, Tiger and Little Red. Gospel music and singing filled her spirit, as did the excitement of watching live bands, attending football games, and the thrill of motorcycles and four-wheelers.
Mabell will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and vibrant spirit. Her legacy of love and perseverance will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. eternal. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Mabell, please visit our floral store.
