Mable Ernst Obituary
Inez Ernst (97) of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
Born February 23, 1927, in Morganton, NC, she was the daughter of the late M.E. and Susan Mull Burns. Inez was a wife, a mother, a neighbor, and a friend.
Inez had a humble servant's heart with an unwavering passion for education. She earned an associate's degree in business from Mars Hill College in 1947, a Bachelor of Religious Education from the Carver School of Missions and Social Work in 1956, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Oglethorpe College in 1966. Inez loved children, and she retired from teaching for DeKalb County Schools in 1995.
Inez is survived by daughter, Tara Ernst; sister, Sarah Venable; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Inez was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Ernst; brothers Melvin (and Joyce) Burns, and Ray (and Tammy) Burns; and by her sister Muriel (and Jim) Martin.
A memorial service for Inez will be held on Sunday, August 25 at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory.
Visitation is scheduled for 1:00, and the service will follow in the chapel at 2:00.
