Mable Gilreath Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home - Whitley City on Mar. 24, 2025.
Mable Gilreath, age 87, died Monday, February 3rd, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughters.
Mable was born January 6th, 1938 in Clay County, Kentucky to Margaret and Tommy Jarvis. Mable married the love of her life, Robert Gilreath, on December 19th, 1956, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Together they were blessed with the lights of their lives, their four daughters, Jeanie, Betty, Sherri, and Debbie.
Mable stood by Robert's side as he pastored the Revelo Church of God for 40 years. She lived her life as a devoted Christian and servant of the Lord, maintaining her strong faith throughout her 87 years.
Mable was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was deeply in love with her husband, to whom she was a doting wife for 69 happy years. An exceptional matriarch to her family, she loved nothing more than spending time with her loved ones and caring for her four daughters, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Her unmatched maternal instincts gave her the unique ability to make everyone around her feel loved, cared for, and appreciated.
She was a homemaker who worked to make her house a beautiful home for her family. She was an expert seamstress and a phenomenal cook, making her signature biscuits and gravy (and chocolate gravy) a staple of family gatherings. Her happy disposition, quick wit and quiet sense of humor, and steadfast devotion made being around her a blessing to those who were lucky enough to know her.
Mable is survived by her brother, Willie Jarvis, her sister, Rosetta Rogers, her daughters, Jeanie Wright (Donnie), Betty Kimbrell, Sherri Davis (Mark), and Debbie Gilreath, her grandchildren, Laina Wright Yocom (Jeremiah), Aaron Wright (Laura), Terah Kimbrell (Madison Wenzler), Saraya Hawkins (Hudson), and Brittany Price Mason, and her great-grandchildren, Judah, Jadah, and Jerah Yocom, and JJ and Isaac Mason.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert Gilreath, her daughter, Sharon Kay, her parents, Tommy and Margaret Jarvis, and her siblings, Carl Jarvis, Tommy Jarvis Jr., Sylvia Sibert, Vernon Jarvis, Ruby Jarvis Brock, and Louise Jarvis.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, February 6th, 2025, at the Hickman Strunk Funeral Home in Whitley City, Kentucky. The burial followed funeral services at King Cemetery on Pig Skin Road in Stearns.
