Mable Horace

Mable Horace was born on March 18, 1935, in Bay Minette, Alabama, to the late Grover Cleveland, Sr. and Bertha Mosley Cleveland. She transitioned peacefully at her home on Sunday morning, December 21, 2025, surrounded by love, at the blessed and remarkable age of 90.
Mable was a loving, well-respected woman known for her open heart and open home. She graciously welcomed countless visitors, near and far, always ensuring there was an abundance of food prepared for anyone who stopped by. She made certain everyone had something to eat and a safe haven to retreat to, often saying, "God's got it," a true testament to her generous spirit and unwavering faith. She dedicated many fulfilling years of service helping others at Hamilton Avenue Hospital and Walnut Mountain Nursing Home until her early retirement, leaving a lasting impact on all she served.
A deeply spiritual and God-fearing woman, Mable was a faithful member of Kings Chapel Mission Church in Monticello, New York. She served under the spiritual leadership of the late Elder Jesse Wrenn, the late Bishop Leon Williams, and Pastor Michael Williams.
Mable was a devoted mother, grandmother, and matriarch whose love poured endlessly into her family and friends. She is survived by her beloved children, Vernon Horace, Lisa Crawford, and Samuel Horace Jr. Her loving legacy continues through a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her last remaining and beloved sister, Louise Bracey of Rochester, New York.
Mable was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Samuel Horace Sr.; her children, Maurice Alexander, Savage Joseph, and Michelle Gwedlyn Horace; her grandsons, Jesus Robles, Eric Hasbrock, and Sheldon Wells; and her dear siblings, Margaret, Annie Lee, Lilly, Myrtle, Annie Bell, and Grover Cleveland Jr. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the Kings Chapel Mission Church, 15 Spring Street in Monticello with her funeral service starting at 12pm noon at the church with Pastor Michael Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
