Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, great-great-grandma, aunt and a woman who loved well and was well loved, gained her wings on December 27, 2025, at the age of 98. Mable was the third of six children born September 19, 1927, to the late Lena Saums of
Littleton, North Carolina.
Mable attended Prince School and later began her work experience at various jobs, including South Oaks Hospital in Amityville, New York, Jay Two, which later became Littleton Apparel in
Littleton, North Carolina, and as a private caregiver for the elderly in her community.
Mable's Christian journey started with Fidelity Baptist Church,
Littleton, North Carolina, later becoming a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church,
Littleton, North Carolina where she was an active member until her health began to fail.
Mable's hobbies included crocheting, sewing, playing Bid Whist with her friends and family, playing Bingo, and her most rewarding hobby was taking care of her loved ones. She was such a jewel to her family and loved ones.
Mable was married to the love of her life, William "Bill" Johnson, and with this union, they had a beautiful baby girl whom they named, Gloria. Both William and Gloria have preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by four of her siblings: Albert, Rachel, Bettie, and Raymond; two great-grandsons: Tyquan and Darius; one great-granddaughter: Taniya, and a lifelong friend, Floyd.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her granddaughters: Shawnique (Corey), Quiana, Delisa, and a niece she loved as her granddaughter: Tamika; a nephew she loved and raised as her own: Earl; one sister: Bessie; a sister-in-law: Barbara; brother-in-law: Harvey; her great-grandchildren: Tyjha, Lanayjha, Shacori, Liam, Isaiah, Tiana, Delevin, Denver, Devin, and Takarius; a bonus grandson: Erik; great-great-grandchildren: Gabbriella, Nolan, NaSye, Aaron, Ava, Aubri, Jayceon, and Khyan; special nephews: Usef, Ahmond, Troy, and Junie; a niece: Saunder; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who were all close to her heart.

A visitation for Mrs. Mable Johnson will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home, 520 Smith Church Road,
Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery #2, 210 Johnson Mill Pond Road,
Littleton, North Carolina 27850.
