Archdale, NC – Jo Ann Hostetter Maloney, 86, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Peter Catholic Church.

Jo Ann was born on October 19, 1939, to the late William and Sophie Hostetter and was a graduate of James B. Castle High School. On April 27, 1957, she married John Maloney at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Kaneohe, HI. Following his military career, she and her family moved to Plymouth in 1971 where she was the treasurer and secretary for the United Way in Washington County for 17 years. She also worked as a secretary and desk clerk for hotels for 14 years, drove a school bus, and watched children.

Jo Ann was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and a member of the Roanoke Saddle Club. She loved horses and spending time doing needlepoint. She had made her home in Archdale for the past three years to be closer to family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2014, CAPT John Thomas Maloney, USMC Ret. and a brother, William "Butch" D. Hostetter, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Catherine Wilkins of Archdale; son, Thomas John Maloney and wife, Gretchen Hardison Maloney of Greenville; grandchildren, Zachary Shook (Sarah Knowles), Rose Ross (Bill), Kaitlyn Swindell (Matthew), Leslie Maloney (Courtney), and Samantha Williams; great-grandchildren, Juissepte (Billy) Ross, Breya Ross, Bronn Ross, Harper Swindell, and Josie Swindell; sister, Kathie Weiss of GA; uncle, Bill Bak (Janet) of NY; aunts, Joyce Hostetter of CA and Nary Hostetter of PA; niece, Monica Williams; and a host of nieces and nephews.
