Mable Roselle Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by John O. Morris Funeral Home on Oct. 2, 2025.
Mable Virginia Mae Roselle was born to the late John Sinclair Roselle and Bertha Dennis Roselle on February 17, 1938. However, at Mother Mable's retirement, she learned of a discrepancy with her birthdate. Mother Mable's birthdate at the social security office registered July 25, but Mother Mable's parents consistently gave her the birthdate as February 17 of which she celebrated all her life.
Mable Virginia Mae Roselle believed in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and was baptized twice. She started her Christian journey with her father at the Belle Haven Circuit, St. Joseph A.M.E. Church in Belle Haven and St. Paul A.M.E. in Pungoteague along with her mother at Shiloh Baptist Church in Painter. She experienced the water baptism in her adult years in Jesus' name when she recommitted her life back to Jesus Christ in Norfolk, VA. Upon Mable Virginia receiving the Holy Ghost, she became a member of the Land of Promise Celebration Church (LOPCC). She did not attend church regularly in the physical building. However, she was a present-day virtual TV-watching believer who was seen every Sunday morning dressed for church with five Bibles open for virtual church services. She gave her tithes monthly to LOPCC and she contributed generously to any church need or needs of hurting people. She upheld the generous, bountiful, and openhanded Roselle trademark, which is to bless others to every degree possible. Affectionately, Mother Mable was known to mail birthday, anniversary, or "thinking of you" greeting cards with money in each card, as a Christian surprise.
Mable Virginia Mae Roselle attended Norfolk State College/University for two years as a History Education major. Her heartfelt desire was to become a History Teacher as her career path in life. However, she withdrew from Norfolk State University and became employed from 1961-1970 at Norfolk General Hospital as a dietary aide. There she prepared meals for hospital patients. Later, from 1971-2002, she was employed at Norfolk State University, as a Senior Housekeeper for 31 years. In that position, she managed five dormitories located on the West End of Campus, to include: Twin Towers North, Twin Towers South, Samuel Scott, Rosa Alexander, and Phyllis Wheatley. Due to her stellar custodial leadership, she was promoted internally, and she assisted her supervisor in the operations of all Academia buildings on the university's campus, of which she was most proud. She retired in the spring of 2022 with her family present to walk her off campus strolling with the Jesus Did It Retirement Victory!
Mable Virginia Mae Roselle lived by St. Matthew 22:34-39, "To love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love thy neighbor as thyself." Scholarly, she learned many lessons in life of which she kept as the foundation of her daily living. In addition to her firm biblical foundation, she upheld three lessons that she heard from her Northampton High School Graduation in 1954. Till her death, she lived by and upheld those lessons daily. The three lessons were:
"It's never right to do wrong and it's never wrong to do right!
"Know the real from the artificial."
"Be an answer and not a problem!"

Mable Virginia Mae Roselle's Favorite Hymns:
Jesus Is All the World to Me
Victory in Jesus
What a Friend We Have in Jesus
Christ Is All
In the Garden
Yes, God Is Real
Since Jesus Came into My Heart
Because He Lives
Love Lifted Me
He Lives
People to People
Hold to God's Unchanging Hand
Blessed Assurance
Oh How I Love Jesus
Victory in Jesus
I Found the Answer
Great is Thy Faithfulness
How Great Thou Art
O' I Want to See Him
When We All Get To Heaven
