Mable Wall West of Arnoldsville, GA passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the age of 86 due to complications from pneumonia.
As a mother and provider Mable had many different jobs through the years. She worked at Oglethorpe County High School, helped manage a family business, was a court reporter, worked at Shealy Farms, and since 1991 has worked for the Hughes family either as a receptionist or personal assistant. She has always been a very social person. She made everyone that she encountered feel like family. Mable has always loved the outdoors and horses. Everything in life to her was better if it could be done while sitting in a swing. Her favorite past times included watching rodeos, spending time with family and listening to good ole music. She was able to travel to see some of the things that she loved in person: The Great Cheyenne Frontier Days, The Calgary Stampede Rodeo, Niagara Falls, and The Grand Ole Opry.
Mable loved God, family, and friends. She attended Salem Baptist Church. Mable always thanked God for blessing her to be able to do the things that she loved. It was a priority to host Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was a living example of how to love other people.
Mable was preceded in death by her parents Alva and Ruth Wall, her brother William (Bill) Wall (Carrie), her brother David Wall (Brenda), and her daughter Tracie Kesler (Lane). She is survived by her son Russ West (Maranda), her grandchildren of the late Tracie Kesler: Kristin Walker (Dustin), Justin Kesler (Karmen), Maggie Kesler, and Maria Kesler. She also has six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Lord and Stephens Funeral Home (East) chapel. Visitation is at 10:00 a.m. and the service is at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Mable has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society and the Athens Area Humane Society.
