Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 9th from 9 AM - 6 PM with family receiving friends for visitation from 4 - 6 PM.
Mack was born on April 24, 1928, to Louis and Rushia Richards. A lifelong farmer and cattle rancher, he devoted his working years to the land he loved until his retirement. On November 19, 1949, he married Patricia Anne Richardson in Childress, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 73 years of marriage.
Mack worked as a Merchant Marine shortly after the war, where he developed a lifelong love of boxing. He later gave generously of his time and leadership as a member of the local school board, the Soil and Water Conservation District Board, and the Masonic Lodge. A Master Mason and Shriner with the Scottish Rite, he was deeply involved in his community.
Known for his warm smile and sense of humor, Mack was happiest surrounded by family. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved fishing, daily morning walks, and summers spent at his cherished home in Hermit Lakes, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Anne Richards; his parents, Louis and Rushia Richards; his son, Robert "Bobby" Richards; daughter, Susan Richards; sisters, Maxine Widener and Mildred Phillips; and his brother, L.A. "Tags" Richards.
Mack is survived by his son, David Richards and wife Kiesha of Childress, TX; daughter, Casey Gonzalez and husband Raul of Memphis, TX; and sister Patsy Jester of Hamilton, TX. He is also survived by grandchildren: Cody Bell of Corpus Christi, Allie Rutledge and husband Chase of Weatherford, Taylor Richards of Houston, Gaynor Gonzalez of Memphis, Levi Gonzalez of Prosper, Mackewin Gonzalez of Abilene, and David Richards and wife Jacquelynn of Amarillo; great-grandchildren: Rafe, Mack, Austin, Madison, Brynley, Jaxson David Richards, Christian Goff-Richards, and Isabella Richards; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dolores Escavado, his caretaker and dear friend, for her devoted companionship and care in his final years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Fairview Cemetery or Meals on Wheels.
