Macon Garrick Obituary

Macon Ray Garrick

September 22, 2025

ORANGEBURG, SC - Macon Ray Garrick, 74, of Orangeburg, SC, passed away September 22, 2025. He was the husband of the late Lynn Livingston Garrick.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 26, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Orangeburg, with the Reverend Ryan Tucker officiating. The burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM, same day of the service in the church sanctuary. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Michael Borgstedt, Larry Garrick, Bruce Garrick, Ryan Garrick, Bill Livingston, Matt Martin, Anthony Masotti, and Justin Trapp.

Macon Ray was born in Orangeburg, SC, the younger son of the late Macon Garrick and Meta Lou Sutcliffe Garrick. He was a graduate of Wade Hampton Academy and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. Macon Ray and his brother, the late Bobby Garrick, co-owned and operated G&G Furniture in Orangeburg for many years. Macon Ray was a member of the Gideons International, faithfully sharing his testimony and helping to distribute God's Word. He was also a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Orangeburg, where he served in many capacities including Deacon and member of the Chancel Choir. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

He never met a stranger and made everyone around him feel welcome. Lynn often said she hoped Macon would grow up along with their daughter, Jennifer, and when he didn't, she hoped he would grow up alongside their grandchildren, Bo and Georgia Blanchard. Anyone who knew him will agree he never grew up and was truly one of a kind! He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, and larger than life personality.

Macon Ray is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Lynn Garrick Blanchard and her husband, Russ, of Orangeburg; sister-in-law, Jan Garrick of Orangeburg; one brother-in-law, Bill Livingston Jr. and sister-in-law Ruby of Santee; two grandchildren, Bo and Georgia Blanchard; two nieces, Angela Garrick Martin (Matt) of Orangeburg and Jesna Livingston Masotti (Anthony) of Piedmont; two nephews, Larry Garrick (Stephanie) of Orangeburg and Bruce Garrick (Ashley) of West Columbia.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Orangeburg, 1240 Russell Street, Orangeburg, SC 29115 or the Gideons International, www.gideons.org/donate

His family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Jolley Acres for their years of love and care.
