Macy Richardson Lilly Varian, 97, of Fayetteville, NC went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2025.
She was born in Rainelle, WV, on August 7, 1928, to the late James Camp and Macy Lee Richardson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Ann Richardson Cantrell; her brother, James Edmond Richardson; her first husband, Cyril Reuther Lilly; her second husband, William Fred Varian; her sons-in-law, Earl Simon Jones Jr., Michael Gene Pirtle; her granddaughter, Haley Alexis Smith, and her grandson, Ryan Earl Jones.
As a devoted wife and mother of four daughters and one son, she was married for 42 years to Cyril Reuther Lilly. After his passing in 1988, Macy found love again and married William “Fred” Varian. Their marriage lasted 31 years, when Fred passed away at the age of 92. Macy Lived an amazing 97 years, 73 happily married.
Macy was a West Virginia girl who married a career soldier and traveled with her family on his tours of duty. She loved to cook, make clothing, crochet, collect and wear jewelry, read Amish novels, and enjoy family gatherings.
Left to cherish Macy’s memory is her son, Cyril Richardson Lilly and wife Delores Lilly; her daughters, Marlene Lilly Vandenboom and husband David Martin Vandenboom, Myrinda Sue Pirtle, Madeline Kay Lilly, Melissa Lilly Jones; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
The family will welcome friends at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service from 10:30am to 11:30am, on Friday, August 22, 2025. Her funeral will follow immediately at 11:30am, in the chapel. The service will conclude with her burial at Lafayette Memorial Park West.
