Madeleine Q Addams

12/21/1931 - 06/23/2025

Madeleine Quesenberry Addams, age 93, of Osprey, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025 in Sarasota, Florida. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Madeleine was raised in Chestertown, Maryland by her devoted parents Nicholas and Madeleine (nee Mahony). She attended Mary Washington College and graduated from the University of Maryland.

A long-time resident of Marysville, Ohio with her husband Carl, Madeleine was a dedicated social worker and supervisor of children services for the Union County Department of Human Services for 19 years. She was also Ohio's inaugural recipient of the Outstanding Child Welfare Worker award.

After their retirements, Madeleine and Carl moved to Osprey, Florida, where they enjoyed boating, dancing, and spending time with friends. Madeleine continued her passion for service by volunteering at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Osprey.

Madeleine's greatest joy was her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Carl and brothers Nicholas "Sonny" and William. She is survived by her son John, daughters Stacey and Patricia, son-in-law Jon, daughter-in-law Susan, grandchildren Lee, Ethan, Audrey, Kendall, and Eli, and sisters Cecilia and Lou and brother Rousby.

A mass service will be held on August 1st at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Osprey, Florida at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon at Southbay Yacht and Racquet Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (www.olmc-osprey.org/giving) or Tidewell Hospice (tidewellfoundation.org/donate).
