Madelin T. Hilla,98, passed away on March 11, 2025, at Rolling Fields Eldercare Community. Born on July 31, 1926, in Santa Monica, CA, she was the beloved daughter of the late John and Tomica Tudor. She graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario, CA, in 1945 and worked as a secretary at Camp Ono Army Base and Kaiser Steel before marrying the love of her life, John E. Hilla Sr., on June 9, 1951.
A year later, she welcomed twin sons, John and Anthony, and in 1955, the Hilla family moved to Linesville, Pennsylvania, to build a life on their cherished farm. Later, she resided in Conneaut Lake before spending her final decade at Rolling Fields Eldercare Community.
She was a devoted member of St. Philip Parish in Linesville and OLQA Roman Catholic Church in Conneaut Lake and previously was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Her faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life, allowing her to love her family deeply and unconditionally.
She is survived by her son, John (Meg) Hilla Jr. of Palmyra, PA; her adored granddaughter, Erin (Nick) Sechrist of Lebanon, PA; and her greatest joy, great-granddaughter Kennedy Jean (KJ) of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband John, and son Anthony.
Her family and the memories shared with them were her most treasured possessions. She found joy in polka music, often taking Erin dancing at Yankee Lake, embarking on their Anderson Bus Trips, and cherishing their countless adventures. She loved playing bingo, faithfully using the same bingo card for over 50 years, completing word searches, crafting, and embracing the wonderful social activities at Rolling Fields.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Rolling Fields for the love and care they provided over the last 10 years. You always made her feel seen, valued, and loved, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
Family and friends are invited to call Friday March 14, 2025 from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am at St. Philip Church, 401 S. Mercer Street Linesville, PA. with Father Chris Hamlett officiating. Following the mass, Madelin will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at St. Philip Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Department at Rolling Fields Eldercare Community, 9108 PA 198, Conneautville, PA 16406, ensuring that the joy she found there continues for others.

John, I visited a friend at Rolling Fields in December. In the hallway I saw your Mom leaving some activity and she recognized me immediately and smiled. I went to look for her on my way home and she was eating lunch and I didn´t want to bother her. She seemed to be doing very well. It is amazing that your parents got married nine days after I was born. I have fond memories of our families visiting when we were kids. My deepest sympathy.

I will always cherish the time I spent with Madelin while I worked at Rolling Fields. I loved to visit her and miss being able to do so.
