Madeline S. Laudato, 94, of Schenectady, NY, wife of the late Harold Laudato, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Born on February 4, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Alice (Maguire) Black.
Madeline—known lovingly as Maddy—was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold, her son Casey (2020), and siblings.
She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Maul, Patricia Civitello, and Donna Santiago; her three sisters Margaret, Mary and Millie; many nieces and nephews; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren—all of whom brought her so much joy.
Maddy had a love for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed camping at Sacandaga Lake, reading, doing puzzles, and creating beautiful arts and crafts. She especially loved the lake and treasured time spent there with her family. Her home was always full during the holidays, where she made sure everyone came together.
She had a love for nature and gardening, and took pride in her beautiful garden, both flowers and vegetables, which she tended with her husband. Maddy also had a fun streak—she loved to shop, often picking up things she didn’t need, from furniture to towels, just because she liked them.
Christmas was her favorite time to decorate and make everything feel magical. Though she could be tough on the outside, Maddy had a big heart and was a true survivor, even beating cancer. She gave her best in everything she did and made sure the people in her life knew how much she loved them.
She will be remembered for her strength, her humor, her warmth, and her deep love for family. She will be missed more than words can say.
