Madeline “Midge” Royal McCollom (nee Johnson), age 98, passed away on March 25th, 2026. Born on April 19th, 1927 in Tina, Mo. Her parents, Elmer and Goldie, raised their 8 kids in Carrollton, Mo before moving to Kansas City when Madeline was 16. She graduated from Westport High School.
She met the love of her life, Samuel McCollom, during WWII. They fell in love while writing letters to one another. They married on March 28th, 1947. They had two daughters.
Sam and Madeline owned and operated Samuel T. McCollom Lawn and Tree Services. She loved country music, yard work, cooking, homemaking, hosting, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. She was talkative, feisty, generous and full of love for her family.
Madeline was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Johnson; her mother, Goldie Johnson; and her husband, Samuel McCollom. She is survived by her daughters, Arlene Stafford of Lee’s Summit, Mo; Donna Caswell (James) of Kansas City, Mo. Her sister, Darlene Nicks. Her 4 grandchildren, Cole McCollom (Erika), Kyle Talley, Stephen Stafford (Nicole), Tara Wells (Chris). Her 7 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Raylene, Sam, Kyle Jr, Alexander, Finley, and Jacob. Her great-great-grandchild Sammy Jr.
Madeline’s family will privately celebrate her life.
