Madeline Winmill Obituary
Madeline Pincock Winmill, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Thousand Oaks, CA on January 13, 2025, at the age of 75. She will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to her family, deep love of temple and family history work, and her selfless contributions to her Church and community.
Born October 25, 1949 in Rochester, Minnesota to Dr. Lowell and Karma Pincock, and raised in Santa Barbara, CA. Madeline lived a life rich in faith, love, and compassionate service. As a graduate of Brigham Young University, with a bachelor's degree in Education, Madeline had a gift for teaching and touching the hearts of family, friends, and those on the margins of life.
Madeline married the love of her life, Richard Winmill, on May 29, 1971, in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Their 54 years of marriage were filled with joy, companionship, and a shared commitment to their family and faith. Madeline is survived by husband, Richard Winmill; her seven children: Christopher (Charmain) Winmill, Tressa (Joel) Mitchell, Jennifer (Lee) Mackay, Betsy Torres, Matthew (Nicole) Winmill, Michael (Candace) Winmill, and Jacob (Brooke) Winmill; as well as 24 cherished grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is survived by her siblings Jim Pincock, Sylvia Gale and Alice Peterson and many nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by her kindness and dedication to preserving family legacies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Karma Pincock.
One of Madeline's most cherished passions was her dedication to temple work and the family history research that supported it. She helped hundreds of people search out ancestors and link families together. They attest she had a gift for this work. She spent countless pro-bono hours researching, preserving, and sharing their stories. To her, family history was not just a hobby-it was a way to honor the past, strengthen family bonds, and connect the generations.
Madeline's faith was central to her life, and she was deeply involved in her church community. She served for many years in the Relief Society as the Relief Society president in different wards and Stake Relief Society counsellor. She also served as a Stake Young Women's counsellor, Seminary teacher, temple worker and senior missionary in the Belgium Netherlands Mission which Richard.
A celebration of Madeline's life will be held on Tuesday, January 21st, at The LDS Ward Chapel at 3645 Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks, CA, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the remarkable life she lived.
