Madelyn Denise Self, affectionately known by her family as "Mim", was born on June 25, 2000, in Dallas, Texas. She passed away on August 17, 2024, at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, TX. Madelyn was a devoted Homemaker, and a Discord Group Organizer, known for her creativity and leadership skills.

A 2018 graduate of Gurdon High School, she was active in various extracurricular activities, including playing soccer, serving as a basketball manager, and being a member of both the Beta Club and National Honor Society. Madelyn was a proud member of the Gurdon Go-Devil Band, contributing to their achievement as two-time State Marching Band Champions. She was active in the Upward Bound program, sponsored by Ouachita Baptist University for two years prior to graduating from high school. She also showcased her musical talents for one year as part of the Show Band at Henderson State University. She later attended classes at community college in Hope, AR.

Madelyn was engaged to her soulmate, Layne, and was the loving mother of their 10-month-old daughter, Rose Marie. Madelyn had always dreamed of being a mother, and she was blessed to experience that absolute joy and unconditional love before she left this life too soon. She is preceded in death by her angel baby, as well as her grandmother, Karen Self Hammonds, and her Great-Grandfather, Robert Dudley.

Madelyn is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Daugherty, and fiancée, Jason Layne Daugherty of Hope, AR. Parents, Jennifer and Dustin Self of Gurdon, AR. Three sisters, Caitlyn Self of Denver, CO., Delanie (Karson) Wheeler of Bismarck, AR., and Averie Self. One Brother, Amos Self and one Nephew, Jett Wheeler. Mother-in-love Allissa Daugherty, father-in-love Jason Edward Daugherty, and brother-in-love Braden Daugherty of Hope, AR. Grandparents Gayla O’Neall, Michael O’Neall, and Elizabeth O’Neall all of Garland, TX. Great-Grandmother, Denise Dudley, also of Garland, TX. Three Aunts, Kelli (Michael) Boldt of The Colony, TX, Ellen (Sergio) Velasquez of Mesquite, TX, and Amanda (Doug) Cannon of Wylie, TX. One Uncle, Zachary Richardson of Garland, TX. Great-Aunt, Gina (Rickey) Dodson of Emory, TX, and special cousin, Hayley Cannon of Wylie, TX.

Madelyn was known for being a fantastic mother, a loving daughter, and a caring fiancée. She was family-oriented, funny, kind, thoughtful, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Her impact on the lives of others was profound, as she was an attentive listener and an amazing friend. Madelyn’s love for animals, her knack for decorating, her artistic ability, her musical talents, and great advice were just a few of the many ways she enriched the lives of those around her.

Madelyn Denise Self will be remembered for her fierce love for her family and friends, her vibrant spirit, her contagious laugh, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.

Memorial services will be Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 1:00 pm, at Cabe Auditorium in Gurdon, Arkansas. An account has been established at Southern Bancorp for Rose Marie Daugherty for donations.
