Madlyn Correll Obituary

Madlyn Correll
Jan. 3, 1936 - Oct. 10, 2023
Madlyn Senick Correll, age 87, passed away Oct. 10, 2023, in Portland, Ore. She overcame early struggles to develop a spirit of kindness and generosity. Madlyn was dearly loved by her family, and by the many close friends she made throughout her life. She is greatly missed.
Madlyn Delores Senick was born in January 1936 to Adam Senick, a coal miner, and Sophia Piszczek, a coal miner's daughter, in Larksville, Pa. Madlyn had three older half siblings, Adam Jr, Josephine, and Joseph, and one younger brother, Girard. When Madlyn was 7 her father died, and her mother ran a small store with her children to support the family. Fortunately, they had many loving relatives nearby. In 1953 Madlyn graduated from high school and followed her mother and new stepfather Frank to Easton, Pa., to find work. There, Madlyn met her future husband, Milton Correll. They married in 1959 and had two children during their happy marriage, Kathleen (Portland, Ore.) and Thomas (Peekskill, N.Y.). Madlyn was a devoted mother and a blessing to her children.
Madlyn and Milt loved to travel and to help others. They worked with Habitat for Humanity building houses in Nepal, were foster grandparents, and did other volunteer work. After Milt's death, Madlyn lived at the Opal Memory Care Community in Portland, where she made many friends and enjoyed her final years. A celebration of Madlyn's life was held in Opal Nov. 29, 2023. Another celebration will be held at a 2024 family reunion. In remembrance, donate to any worthy charity that helps struggling people.

Madlyn was a beautiful, kind and sweetest cousin I ever had. I admired her so much growing up as she was always so happy and gracious it was a pleasure to be around her. I was lucky to follow in her footsteps at Larksville High School where she was a head majorette. The teachers remembered how sweet she was and I was able to take advantage of that just because I was her cousin. Even though our families moved across the country from each other we always remained in touch. When she joined us at the family reunions, her warmth and charm made everyone feel special.
She will be greatly missed. RIP Madlyn and thank you for being you.

Sending love and condolences to the entire family. I have such good memories of both Aunt Madlyn and Uncle Milt growing up. Aunt Madlyn was always so kind and it was always a fun visit. They both were very generous and enabled me to go to travel school. I will miss seeing her at the reunions.

Madlyn & I have many memories together. In fact, I spent more time with her than any other relatives. She was a wonderful role model for me.
Her zest for life attracted many people who admired her for the kindness she showed, the abundance of compassion she had for others and the warmth she radiated. She was beautiful inside and out. A gem of a person.
Madlyn loved her children, husband and extended family dearly. We were all so proud of our dear Madlyn.
I know for certain that if more people were like her, the world would be a much better place.
It amazed me that even with dementia, she had grace, warmth and was extremely good natured.
Madlyn indeed was a big blessing in my life. I am a better person for knowing her.
May God bless her beautiful soul.
Her spirit will always be with me.

Madlyn was my very beautiful cousin, the first born in my generation making her the oldest of 25 of us and always held that high honor in my eyes. We lived close by in Pennsylvania where she was a majorette at Larksville High School. I remember seeing her twirling a flaming baton at football games and being very proud of her and telling everyone there that she was my cousin!

Her and Milt had a long and happy marriage with their two great children. They were an extremely good looking couple. My whole family always held a lot of respect for them.

Madlyn always had such a warm wonderful and welcoming smile that could light up a room and a personality and hugs to match. She will be really missed.

R.I.P. Madlyn
With Love,
Your cousin Rosalyn (Barnoski) Dean
