Loretta Mae Crossno (nee Pendleton), aged 99, passed away on Thursday, March 27th, 2025. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mae was born on November 4th,1925 in Tovey, Illinois to Joe Pendleton and Loretta Pendleton (nee Bellante) where she lived until moving to Paris, Arkansas at the age of 12. Mae and her late husband Leo Crossno then moved from Arkansas to Wichita, Kansas with their two daughters, Rebecca (Vizner) and Karen (Sharshel).
Mae worked at Mentha's Clothing Store and Skateland Skating Rink but spent most of her years as a homemaker. She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed many hobbies including dancing, walking, playing bingo, going to the casino, and traveling. She loved going to the Fair, visiting her siblings in Arkansas and adding to her Precious Moments collection after visiting the Precious Moments Chapel. She was a talented seamstress, sewing and embroidering beautiful baby blankets for each new member of her growing family. She added joy and energy to every wedding, baby shower, graduation, and birthday she attended – she was immensely proud to be a great-great-grandmother to 12! When Mae was asked what she wanted to be remembered for she said, "I hope everybody knows I loved them all so much."
Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Crossno, her parents Joe and Wilhelmina Pendleton, her brother, Joe Pendleton (Mary Jane), her daughter Karen (Fred) Sharshel and granddaughter Tammy Friesen.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Ray) Vizner, her brothers Jim (Pat) Pendleton, Al (Joyce) Pendleton, her sister Rita Armstrong, her grandchildren Don (Traci) Vizner, Brenda (Mike) Shook, John (Christa) Vizner, Joe (Barbie) Vizner, Melissa (Pat) Wilson, Amy Sandefer, Cindy (Chris) Woods, Erin (Pete) Crandall, Amanda (Sean) Sharshel, 23 grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren with twins on the way. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
Services will be at Smith Family Mortuary in Mulvane, Kansas on Tuesday, April 1st. A viewing will be held that day at 9:00 AM with a service to follow at 10:00. Family and friends are welcome to attend the burial at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita, KS at 12:00 PM.
Due to her love of all animals (cats, dogs, ducks, you name it!) in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Kansas Humane Society.
