Mae Diakunczak

1935 - 2023

Mae Diakunczak, 88, went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2023. She was born and raised in Springfield, MA, the daughter of the late Fredrick and Rose (Foti) Fopiano. She was the beloved wife of Andrew Diakunczak for 45 years. They worked alongside each other owning and operating an Auto Detailing Company where they cleaned and polished cars for Southern Auto Auction. When they weren't working, they loved traveling and exploring many places including Italy, Europe, Hawaii and other islands. Mae loved spending time with family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed socializing with everyone who knew her. She will be missed by her beloved husband, Andy Diakunczak of Boca Raton, Florida; her daughter Ellen Schmutte and her husband Greg of Wilbraham, MA; her grandsons Brian and Kyle Schmutte and her two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her cousins including Renee Jarvis Nowak and her nieces, and a nephew Fred Fopiano Jr. and several dear friends in the Springfield area and in Florida. She was predeceased by her son Robert "Bobby" Diakunczak and her brother Fred Fopiano. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 5 – 7 PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main Street, Agawam. A funeral home service will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 10 AM followed burial in Springfield Street Cemetery, Springfield Street, Feeding Hills.
