Mae Hoffer, 90, Harvey, ND formerly of McClusky, died Friday, November 7, 2025 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 12 at Faith Lutheran Church, Harvey, ND. Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Mae was born on March 31, 1935, in Beaver, Ohio. She was the daughter of Chester and Diedamie (Perkins) Wells. She grew up in the hills of Ohio where she attended school and later ranched with her brother Chester near Byer, Ohio. She met Clarence Hoffer through the Farm Journal Magazine. They corresponded for a year, and she came out to North Dakota. Mae and Clarence were married on November 14, 1986, in McClusky. They lived and farmed north of McClusky until moving to Harvey in 2000. They would spend summers out on the farm and winters at their home in Harvey. Mae attended the St. John's Lutheran Church in McClusky and Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church in Harvey. Mae's hobbies included working in her garden, growing flowers, sewing and writing. An article she wrote was published in a book called "Leaning Into The Wind."

Mae is survived by her nieces, Patty Wells of Jackson, Ohio, Grace Arndt of Harvey, Sharleen Vannatta of Minot, and Connie Mehl of Minot; nephew, John C. Wells of Florida. Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence on October 9, 2025; parents; numerous brothers and sisters.
