BROOKSVILLE — Mae Louise Commodore Lail, 85, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.
Mae was born on Feb. 23, 1941, to the late Robert Commodore and Mildred Hawkins Commodore. She was a member of Broadway Christian Church in Germantown.
Mae was a devoted wife to Melvin Lail, whom she married on January 10, 1958. They shared a loving life together until his passing in June of 2022. She is survived by her children: Jeannette Bean, Mildred Henry, Melvin "Skip" Lail, Jr., Tonyia Lail, and Toyia Lail; 11 grandchildren; and eight great‑grandchildren.
Mae was preceded in death by her daughter, Bernice Willis; her grandson, Sterling Willis; her daughter‑in‑law, Kimberly Hinton Lail; and her seven siblings: Robert "Boots" Commodore, Jackie Jones, Joyce Berry, Shirley Commodore, Danniel Commodore, and John Commodore.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the family farm where Mae took her final rest.
As Mae was an avid gardener, the family asks attendees to bring a packet of annual flower seeds to help continue her tradition of cultivating a magnificent flower garden.
