Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions - Beavercreek ChapelMae Loraine Edwards was called home to rejoin her Heavenly family on Friday, January 30, 2026. She lived a quiet but beautiful life and will be remembered as a loving family member, friend, and teacher.
Mae was born on December 27, 1942 to Velma Mae Focht and Thomas Linden Edwards. Surrounded by her siblings Shirley, Linda, Thomas ("Sonny"), and Doug, Mae grew up a fun-loving, light-hearted, and social girl. She lived life in the moment and found joy in spending time with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Family always remained at the center of Mae's heart as she grew up. She became a loving mother to Brian, Todd, and Christina and a doting aunt to many nieces and nephews. As a mother, Mae was the glue that held her family together. She was a gentle presence providing the warmth and love vital to every family. In difficult times, her love was the constant on which her children could depend. As Brian, Todd, and Christina grew into adulthood, moved to different states, and started families of their own, Mae remained committed to being an active part of her family's lives. She was a doting grandmother to Brooke, Troy, Kelsey, Sean, Connor, and Ronan.
With her children grown, Mae channeled her love of children into a career, serving as a special education teacher assistant for Ohio public schools. She gave her students the same love, affection, and devotion that she gave her children and grand-children.
At 59 years old, Mae found her soul-mate and the love of her life, William "Bill" Sullivan. Despite finding each other later in life, Mae and Bill built a life filled with enough love and joy to be the envy of couples who had been together a lifetime. They created memories on cruises, vacations, and trips to visit family. In her later years, family continued to be the joy of her life. She lit up every time she got to see her great-grandchildren Eleanor, Violet, and Jessie.
Mae will be missed, but fondly remembered by everyone who knew her. In addition to her love for family, Mae will be remembered for accepting and loving others for who they are and finding joy in everything she did.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm-3:00pm, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, where the Memorial Service will begin at 3:00pm.
