Mae Nathaniel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Bogalusa on Feb. 2, 2026.
Mae Carolyn Nathaniel known as "Momma Carolyn, Ms. Carolyn, Ms. Mae and Granny," was born in Brookhaven, MS on May 8, 1945. She was the 7th child of fourteen (14) children born to the late ML Hudson and Clemetine Putman Hudson. Sis Nathaniel attended Alexander High
School in Brookhaven, MS. She later married Gerald Nathaniel of Bogalusa, LA and to this union four (4) children were born.

Sis Nathaniel joined Sweet Beulah Baptist Church where she was an active member. She served as a Deaconess, a member of the adult choir, a member of the Maggie Barnes Sewing Circle, and the Women's Mission. Her faith was always in Jesus. She showed care towards her family and
taught them using the principles of God's Word, "To love one another as I have loved you (John 13:34)". She also cared for several people throughout the community. Her expertise was cooking a variety of foods and baking good old-fashioned southern pound cakes. All types and flavors! She was known as "The Cake Lady!" Anytime you visited her home, there was always food and cake on the back table. Her house was open to anyone who needed a place to eat, or you could take a plate to go!

She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Nathaniel, her parents ML and Clemetine Hudson, and her siblings John Hudson, ML Hudson, Jr., Randy Hudson, Harold Hudson, Sandra Hudson, Theresa Robinson and Mary Johnson.

Momma Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories with her children, Gary (Daphne) Nathaniel of Jackson, MS, John (Lisa) Nathaniel of Varnado, LA, Stanley (Sherrie) Nathaniel, Carol Nathaniel, and Diane Magee all of Bogalusa, LA and two (2) bonus children whom she raised and was affectionately known as Maw Maw, Colinda "Punkin" Peters and Antoino "Tony" Morris. Three sisters, Eva May of Bogalusa, LA, Hilda Rucks of Brookhaven, MS, and Audrey Brown of Monitcello, MS. Three brothers Kind David Hudson, Paul Hudson, and Albert (Maggie) Hudson all of Brookhaven, MS; 7 grandchildren Jonoria (Randy) Harness, Leslie Nathaniel, Jasmine Keys, Riviera Nathaniel, Schylar Nathaniel, Dayshjauna (Jonathan) Moody, and Michaiah Nathaniel; 6 great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church members, extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 9:30AM - 11:30AM followed by the funeral service at 11:30AM at Sweet Beulah Baptist Church 1408 N Roosevelt St. Bogalusa, LA 70427 with Rev.
