Mrs. Ann Juliette Kukakina Nathaniel, affectionately known as "Nana," 97, of Hilo, Hawaii, met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at her Pana ewa home. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on March 5, 1928, and raised on Lehua Street in Puueo, Hilo, alongside her siblings. She attended St. Joseph School for Girls. Nana was a proud and dedicated servant of the Hawaiian community. Her extensive career included roles as a Legislative Coordinator for the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii, Staff Training Officer for the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council, and Supervisor of Four Community Service Centers. She also served with distinction on the board for Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi, holding positions as Vice President, Acting Chairman, and Chairman. Furthermore, Nana was a Past Secretary and Life Member of the Ahahui Ka ahumanu Society Helu Ekolu, a Board Director for the Keaukaha-Pana ewa Community Association, and an At Large Board Member for Alu Like Inc. She was the oldest member of the Ahahui Siwila o Ke Aloha Aina. She is survived by her loving siblings Yolanda Princler, Ku uipo Dias, William Yomes and Ron Kaipo. Her sons, James Earl White III, Glenn Mitchell White and Jonathan David Nathaniel. She leaves behind a loving legacy of numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and adoptive children.
