Mae Gladys Tinnon was born on November 20, 1937, in Proctor, Arkansas, to Essie Mae Cogdell-Murphy and Joe Jones.
For more than 36 years, she served with dedication and compassion as a Dietitian at The Med, which is now known as Regional One. Her commitment to caring for others left a lasting impact on both her colleagues and the patients she served.
Mae Gladys Tinnon was preceded in death by her loving husband, Haywood Tinnon Sr.; they were a beautiful married couple for over 45 years. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Harry Murphy Sr. and Joseph Murphy of Indianapolis, Indiana, and two sisters, Hattie Pearl Holmes and Lillie Mae Ward.
She is survived by her seven beloved children, LaVerne Jackson, Darline Bynum, Evelyn Tinnon, Kamala (Earnest) Ryan, Ivory (Elbony) Tinnon, Gwendolyn Bruce (Marcus), and Haywood Marcel Tinnon Jr., all of Memphis, Tennessee; her stepdaughter, Lucy Steen of Coffeeville, Mississippi; two cherished brothers, Frank Murphy of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Cleophus (Heather) Murphy of Warner Robins, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Samuel Tinnon and Ivory Tinnon of Tillatoba, Mississippi; three sisters-in-law, Effie Tinnon, Ann (Mitchell) Rockette, and Geraldine (Sydney) Olive of St. Louis, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, July 5,2025 visitation 9:30-10:55, funeral at 11:00 held at Promise Land COGIC 1700 Airways Blvd.
Internment will be in Forest Hill South 2545 E Holmes Rd, Memphis, TN 38118
