Magdalen "Maggie" A. Honl

Magdalen “Maggie” Honl, 87, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.

Magdalen Ann Lange was born on August 30, 1935, to William and Margaret (Harles) Lange, in Lidgerwood, ND.  Maggie was raised in Lidgerwood and graduated high school there. She continued to live there for several years.

On June 25, 1960, Maggie was united in marriage to Donald Honl, the love of her life. Together they made their home in Moorhead, where they raised two sons.

Faith was a very important part of Maggie’s life. She was raised going to Catholic school in Lidgerwood, and her kids went to St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Moorhead. Maggie was a Catholic Daughter and her faith shined through even in small gestures.

Maggie made the best chocolate chip cookies you would ever have. Her salsa was also wonderful. She was a good baker and cook in general, but her salsa and cookies were amongst her kids’ favorites. Maggie had a vegetable garden that she took wonderful care of, when the rabbits and robins weren’t fighting her over the produce. She loved animals, but she had a long-standing feud with one robin that came back year after year to make a nest near her garden. Even finding so much frustration with the animals eating her garden, she insisted that Donald set live traps for the rabbits as to not hurt them. Aside from her garden, Maggie enjoyed quilting, playing bingo, watching her boys, and then her grandchildren play sports. She loved her family and friends, spending time with them and cheering them on in sports and life.

Maggie is survived by her sons; Doug (Lenora) and Brad (Sonja); grandchildren; Cole and Calvin; sister, Margie Schlotfeldt; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Donald; her parents, William and Margaret; sister, Lenoa Willprecht; and brother, Bob Lange.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 3:30 PM to 5 PM, with a Prayer Service at 5 PM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead.

Maggie’s Mass of Christian Burial will held on Monday, February 20, 2023, at 11 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
