Maili Mello Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory - Bartlesville on Dec. 11, 2025.
Maili Leilani Mello, age 46, passed away on November 7th, 2025. She was born on March 27th, 1979, in Anaheim, California, to John Wayne "Spook" Mello and Pamela Jean Brown.

Maili lived a life built around love, motherhood, and connection. She attended Caney Valley High School in Caney, Kansas, where she formed her love for sports, as well as friendships and memories that she carried with her throughout her life. In her younger years, she worked several part time jobs once the kids were of school age, where she made countless friends, many of whom remained dear to her. Maili loved coaching youth softball, helping to shape young athletes with patience, encouragement, and enthusiasm.

Maili found her greatest joy in her children. She cherished every football game she attended for her son, Leland, as well as every orchestra concert, soccer game and track meet for her daughter, Leilani. She was always present, cheering, supporting, and celebrating, no matter how big or small the moment. Her gentle soul had a deep love for her beloved cats and horses, and made countless cherished memories with her kids who carry on her empathy and compassion for furry companions.

A lover of shopping and personal style, Maili had an unmatched eye for fashion. Her daughter often said that she would not have her own sense of style without Maili's guidance and flair. Music was another passion close to her heart, concerts, playlists, and long drives with Maili on "aux" created treasured memories with those she loved.

Among her proudest accomplishments were the birth of her children, overcoming stage III cervical cancer before the age of 32, and rising as a strong, independent single mother. Her resilience and lust for life will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Maili is preceded in death by her father, John Wayne "Spook" Mello, and her maternal grandparents, Richard "Dick" Brown and Patricia Brown. She is survived by her daughter Kalle "Leilani" Keene; her son Leland Bradley Calvin Keene; her brother Cory Allen Perry; and her mother Pamela Jean Brown.

Maili will be deeply missed, but her light lives on in every story shared, every memory held close, and every heart she touched. The room will always be a little quieter without her larger than life presence. May her spirit continue to guide and inspire those who loved her most. Forever in our hearts, our heavenly flower.
