Maio Lashly Nishkian passed away on October 14th, 2025 in her home in Wyoming at age 69.
She was born in San Rafael, California and graduated from San Domenico School. She then moved to San Diego where she attended UCSD. After college, she moved to San Francisco, where she met her husband, Levon Nishkian whom she just celebrated her 45th wedding anniversary with.
Maio was a philanthropist who loved to donate time, work and money to organizations that uplifted the community. She spent much of her life involved in the Children's Theater Association, where she invested decades of heartfelt activism. She volunteered as a singer, actress, costume designer, and event planner. She played an active role in many other organizations such as The Yosemite Conservation, The Tibetan Aid Project, The Fund for People and Parks, and The Community Safety Network of Wyoming.
Maio was a vibrant person, a loving mother and wife, an avid traveler, a fantastic skier, and an animal lover, who brought people together and gave generously. She was a fantastic cook and hosted countless events, dinners and holiday gatherings. A lover of the outdoors, she spent much time hiking, biking, and adventuring with her family and friends.
Maio's love was strong and her emotions deep. She is survived by her husband and children. She had a full life, and left ready to move on to her next chapter. We miss her deeply and we love her unconditionally.
