He is survived by his wife of 77 years Gwen, daughter Cindy Weatherall and husband Marc, son Major Davis Jr. and wife Mary, daughter Leigh Ann Bissbort and husband Paul and son Rick Davis and wife Kelli. M.L. met his wife, Gwen, during their high school years in Tyler, Texas. After starting their family, they moved to Oak Cliff then later relocated to Richardson. M.L. started Davis Automotive in 1961, embarking on a 35-year entrepreneurship. He became known as a high-quality mechanic handling the tough issues. Through the years he served the Richardson community, alongside his sons, by being known as an honest and trustworthy mechanic. Generations of families became long-term customers due to the relationships he built.
M.L. was a dedicated family man who loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. One of his favorite activities with his family was weekly dinners where his job was walking with the grandkids after they finished eating. Another favorite activity was going on several family cruises where memories made are still laughed about years later. He had a wide variety of hobbies and interests including traveling the world with Gwen, many different types of dancing, watching old western movies and TV shows like Gunsmoke. He also enjoyed people watching, whether on the balcony of his apartment or on the promenade of a ship.
M.L. Has left an indelible mark on all who met him during his 97 years. He will be greatly missed.
