Makari Jacobs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mission Park Funeral Chapels Cherry Ridge on Dec. 17, 2025.
Makari Jewell Jacobs, beloved daughter, sister, and granddaughter passed away peacefully at her home on December 14, 2025. Born on September 11, 1997, in San Antonio, Texas, Makari came into this world a fighter and defied all odds for 28 remarkable years. She brought immeasurable joy, love, and light to her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Makari was the cherished only child of Mark Jacobs; the eldest child of Julie Blohm; the loving stepdaughter of Craig Blohm; and devoted sister to her brother, Erich Blohm.

Behind Makari's fragile exterior lived one of the toughest and strongest human beings imaginable. Born prematurely with multiple abnormalities, doctors told her family she wouldn't survive her first night. Well, Makari proved them wrong from the very beginning. She spent the first three months of her life in the NICU at Women's and Children's Hospital, where nurses and respiratory therapists fell in love with her fighting spirit. Because of her chest deformities and respiratory issues, Makari became the 115th person in the world to receive Prosthetic Titanium Rib Implants in 2000 as part of an experimental study. Once again, doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists were amazed by her resilience, strength, and boundless capacity for love.

Makari found great joy in watching her movies and shows. Her favorites were The Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and of course, we can't leave out Elmo and Dora the Explorer. She had a delightful fondness for the "naughty" characters – blowing kisses to the Wicked Witch and Veruca Salt whenever they appeared on screen. This playful affection was beautifully ironic, given Makari's own nature of kindness, love, and forgiveness. Her favorite books were The Really Rotten Princess, and My Little Sister Ate One Hare. At home, Makari was always holding a balloon dangling from a ribbon. Her dad bought her a new balloon every week because she enjoyed looking at it and making it dance by moving her hand. Her two shih tzu pups, Rusty and Riley, provided lots of entertainment with all their shenanigans. Makari's family celebrated every milestone and went all out for birthdays and Halloween, making sure her life was filled with joy and festivities.

Though Makari's world was smaller than most due to her disabilities, she never let that stop her from amazing accomplishments. With the help of her teachers and nurses, Makari's Mission – Warm Hearts and Toasty Toes Sock Drive was established in 2017 to give back to her community. In its first year, 203 pairs of socks were donated. Over the years, the mission continued to grow, and in 2025, an incredible 7,815 pairs of new socks were collected and donated to San Antonio homeless shelters and children's homes. This

mission stands as a true reflection of Makari's pure, compassionate, and loving heart. Makari's life was a testament to strength, perseverance, and unconditional love. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched and the warmth she brought to the world.

Makari is survived by her parents, Mark Jacobs and Julie Blohm; her stepfather, Craig Blohm; her brother, Erich Blohm; her grandmother, Lydia Jacobs; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mike Jacobs, Royce and Frances Henderson and step grandmother, Betty Henderson.

Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North (3401 Cherry Ridge Dr). Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North (3401 Cherry Ridge Dr) with burial to follow at Mission Park Cemetery South (1700 SE Military Dr). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of new socks be made to Makari MissionWarm Hearts and Toasty Toes.
