Malachi means God's Messenger

It is the name of the last book in the Old Testament

Malachi Victor Plocher, 26, after a tragic work related accident, died in Christ on Monday, August 4th, 2025 at 9:33 pm at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He was born on August 7th, 1998 in Safford, Arizona. He was baptized at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bylas, AZ on August 9th. He lived on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation, where his parents served as missionaries, until he was 9 years old. His family moved to Maitland, Florida and he attended Kings of Kings Lutheran School, where his father served as principal, until he was 11. He then moved to Manitowoc, WI where he attended Bethany Lutheran School. He was confirmed in the faith at Bethany Lutheran Church on May 5, 2013.

Malachi worked at Spancrete in Valders, WI for over five years and then various jobs for the Laborers' 330 Union for the past two years. He also served as property manager for Raven Ridge apartments in Denmark and bartended at various bars in the area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his cars & trucks, wakeboarding, snowmobiling and time with his family at their cottage. He was very sociable, kind, and would go out of his way to help others.

At the end of May, he became father to daughter Lainey Evelyn Plocher, whom he adored. He is survived by Alexis Horneck, the mother of his child, his father and mother, Martin and Jill Plocher, his brothers Zachariah and Isaiah, and sister Mashayla Plocher. Grandmother "Granni" Naomi Plocher and grandparents, Rev. Dennis and Judy Schmidt, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Rev. David Plocher.

Although I did not know Malachi personally, I did know very much about him as he was a good friend of my grandson. My deepest sympathy goes to the entire family for the loss of this great fellow.
