Anna Plocher Obituary

Anna W. "Ann" Plocher

November 23, 1926 - January 2, 2026

Highland, Illinois - Anna W. "Ann" Plocher, 99, of Highland, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday January 2nd at San Gabriel Memory Care facility, Highland, IL.

She was born Nov. 22, 1926, to Anton G. and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Nee Goestenkors) Korte, at home in Pocahontas, IL. On Jan. 5, 1946, she married Edwin A. Plocher, at Camp Robinson, Little Rock, AR.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was very active. She taught PSR and was a member of the Altar Sodality. The day she married Ed he received orders to go to Vint Hill Farm Station Virginia. They moved to Warrenton VA, and she started her first job in the PX Jewelry Department. She and Ed loved to travel around the country on Presley Bus tours and eventually in their 5th wheel RV. They saw Alaska, Hawaii and California among many other states. They were regulars at the Farm Progress show in Decatur, Illinois, where they always won the "who has the most grandchildren" contest. The proudly raised their hands and stood for a round of applause. They wintered in Texas for 23 years, driving their RV to Harlingen, Texas. Ann and Eddie always loved to dance. They rarely missed a dance at Lindendale Park, and when they were in Harlingen, they added Square Dancing to their skills. They sometimes danced three times a day. In addition to dancing, Ann loved to work in her garden tending to her flowers, while raising children and helping with the grandchildren. In her youth on the Korte Family farm Ann helped raise her 8 younger brothers and sisters, so she wanted a big family of her own, she stopped at 9 though. As her children grew, she became a working mother as a Dutchmaid apparel dealer. Ann will be missed; she led by example and was the sweetest lady to be around.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Minnie Korte; her husband, Ed Plocher; son, Jim Plocher; brothers and sisters, Vince Korte, Margie Rohling, Marie Huelsmann, Lorraine Jakel, Ray Korte, George Korte, Millie Foederer, Ralph Korte, Bob Korte, Dan Korte; sisters and brothers and sisters in-law, Lynette Korte, Paul Rohling, Ed Huelsmann, Harvey Jakel, Eileen Korte, John Foederer, Lester Pender, JoAnn Korte, Ruth Korte, Dennis Zobrist; grandson-in-law, Gary Feldmann.
