Malcolm Clyde Bailey, affectionately known as Bill, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, in Grants Pass, Oregon. He was born on July 28, 1932, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, and lived a remarkable life that spanned nearly 93 years, filled with love, adventure, and service.

Bill's journey began in Brookhaven, where he was raised until the family moved to Bogue Chitto, Mississippi, which is where he graduated high school in 1950. At the age of 16, he took a job driving a school bus. By 17, he married his first wife and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with honor until his discharge in 1953 as a Staff Sergeant. Following his military service, he joined his father's trucking business, before moving on to a career in passenger bus transportation that would span an incredible 48 years and cover over four million miles. He worked for Trailway, Greyhound, and six other passenger and tour bus companies. Bill ultimately became the proud owner of his own tour bus company, a testament to his hard work and dedication.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Bill was a musician, known for playing the upright bass. He had the pleasure of playing alongside notable names in country music, including Loretta Lynn and George Jones, and giving many the wonderful memories of his musical talents.

From Mississippi, Bill moved to California, then Portland, Oregon, and after to Rogue River. In August of 1986, Bill found love again and married Marion Bailey in Grants Pass, Oregon. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with family, laughter, and cherished memories.

Bill was a devoted member of the Church of Christ, actively participating as a song and prayer leader. His faith was a guiding light in his life, touching the lives of many who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marion Bailey; his daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Roger Sutton; his daughter, Gina Walsh; his step-daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Jim Davis; his step-son and daughter-in-law, Charles and June Smith; along with thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren, who all carry on his legacy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Delta Bailey; his brothers, Everett, Jamie, and Robert Bailey; his sisters, Murl Bailey-White and Lanie Bailey-Jackson; his great-granddaughter, Ariel Arnold; and his great-great-granddaughter, Millie Owens.

Bill led an extraordinarily rich and fulfilling life. He was a cherished husband, a loving father, and an inspiration to so many. His warmth, generosity, and the musical notes he shared will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A committal service to honor Bill's life and legacy will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery on June 18, 2025, at 11:00am, which is located at 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point OR 97524. Family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating a life well-lived and a soul well-loved. Bill's spirit will forever remain a melody in our hearts.
