Malcolm Sanford "Duff" Parsons, age 79 of Columbus, Ohio passed away February 10, 2024. Duff was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm Woodrow and Louella Jane Parsons, daughter, Jennifer Parsons and his brother-in-law, Phillip Craig. He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Jennifer) Parsons, daughter, Jill Parsons and grandson Ethan Malcolm Parsons, his sister Cindy Craig, niece, Brooke Bell, and best friend and love of his life, Dr. Paula Butterfield, and her son Michael Laning.
Malcolm attended Columbus South South High School, Franklin University, Ohio Dominican College, and The Ohio State University. He held degrees from the Insurance Institute of America and The Federal Emergency Management Institute.
He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1972 specializing in reconnaissance in South Korea and trained new recruits in the 3rd Army and airborne units in tactical reconnaissance. From 1973 until 1982 he served as Vice President of Personal Service/Pioneer Mutual Casualty Company. Additionally, from the year 1972-1984 he worked with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. From 1982 until 2000 Malcolm served as Vice President of Support Services at Doctors Hospital. In 2001 he founded The Institute for Risk Management Education and the RiskOne Consulting Group which provided claims and litigation management services to numerous hospitals and physician corporations throughout the U.S. He spoke nationally on medical malpractice issues for several different health care organizations and developed guidelines for risk management auditing of physician private practice offices and was awarded the Education Press Association of America, Distinguished Achievement Award
He was appointed the Ohio Chairman for Vets4Energy and met with Congress and Senate offices in Ohio and Washington D.C. to promote national security through energy independence.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Masonic Shriner's Organization. He was a founding member of three different local and statewide Corvette organizations and served the Ohio Corvette Club Alliance as the Trustee and Executive Director. He served as a Master Ambassador for the National Corvette Museum and served as Ohio Captain for three National Corvette Caravans. His affiliation with automobiles led him to start the Alliance Auto Appraisals Company that provided automobile appraisal and inspection information to international buyers of classic cars in the United States.
In recent years he and Paula traveled throughout Europe and in the U.S.A.
A memorial service will be scheduled by the family. Inurnment at the Dayton National Cemetery.

Duffy was a colleague and a friend. He had an unforgettable presence about him. He was a legitimate and respected authority on medical liability claims management and claims disposition. I was proud to call him my friend. May Duffy´s memory forever be for a blessing!
