MAMIE GOOLSBY
Jacks Creek, TN: Mamie Louise Goolsby, age 76, passed away at her home on February 20, 2025.
She was born May 9, 1948, in Newell, West Virginia, daughter of the late Edward Oscar and Grace Troyer Rogers. She grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Oak Glenn High School in New Cumberland, West Virginia.
Mamie married AB Goolsby on December 30, 1987, in Chattanooga, TN. They moved to Jacks Creek, TN in 1994.
She worked for Cambridge State Hospital in Cambridge, MN for 14 years as a Mental Retardation Residential Lead. She later worked at Northshore Mental Hospital, as a hospice nurse and as a waitress in Knoxville for about 2 years.
After moving to Jacks Creek, she worked at Chester County Nursing Home and at Dollar General for both Henderson and Jackson locations.
She was a member of Old Path Baptist Church. She loved singing and was part of the church singing group ministry called Hearts of Praise.
Mamie enjoyed gardening and interior decorating.
She is survived by her husband AB Goolsby; son, Ward L. Hall, Jr. “Chip” of Knoxville; daughter, Angel Myers of Beech Bluff and two stepdaughters, Dayna Glisson of Warner, OK and Darlene Hooten of Muskogee, OK; two brothers, Lawrence “Lucky” Rogers and David Rogers both of Florida; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several other siblings.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday February 23, 2025, at Old Path Baptist Church located at 488 TN 22A, Enville, TN 38332 with Duane Crane officiating.
