Mandy Cook Obituary

Mandy Jo Cook
Jacksonville - It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our dear Mandy Jo Cook on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the age of 51.
Mandy was born in Jacksonville, IL, on April 25, 1974, to Donald and Melanie Cook.
Mandy is survived by her father, Donald Cook; her brother, Chris Cook and family; her beloved grandmother, Shirley Cook, 95; her sisters by heart, Jessica Long, Robin Meyer, Alyssa Philpott, and Brandy Zanger. Mandy had numerous aunts, uncles, and
cousins that she loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with. Every day felt like a holiday when she was surrounded by her biological family.
Although Mandy never had children of her own, she was incredibly proud of her nieces and nephews, loving them as if they were hers. She is lovingly remembered by Myles (Amanda) Gimbel, Abby Gimbel, Colt Meyer, Skyler (Shane) Riley, Nicholas Zeddie Philpott, Ripley Zanger, and Wolfgang Zanger.
Mandy was preceded in death by her mother, Melanie Cook, her paternal grandfather, Charles Cook in 2005, and her maternal grandparents, Byron and Pauline Sorrill both in 2006.
Mandy lived life boldly and unapologetically, always following the beat of her own drum. With a deep love for adventure, she found joy in exploring the world both on her own and with her closest friends-turning every trip into a story worth telling. Whether it was a spontaneous road trip or a faraway escape, she embraced the unknown with a fearless heart and an open mind.
Mandy was a proud resident of Aurora, Colorado, where she found peace in the city life, the serenity of the mountains, and the energy of live music. She was never happier than when she was at a concert-especially when the Rolling Stones were playing-singing along with a wide grin and a heart full of joy. Mandy also had a special love for visiting local breweries and was always eager to try something new.
Though she was often miles away, Mandy was always someone you could count on. Whether you needed a listening ear during hard moments or a partner-in-crime to plan a quick getaway, she was your girl. Her friendships were unwavering, her love loyal, and her presence grounding.
More than anything, Mandy cherished time with her parents and closest friends, creating memories full of laughter, love, and deep connection. Her presence was magnetic, her spirit untamed, and her love unforgettable. She leaves behind a legacy of
authenticity, adventure, and the reminder to always live life on your own terms. Mandy will be deeply missed beyond measure.
The family is especially grateful to Mandy's close friend, John Klocek, whose help in confirming her door code ensured she was found while we were all states away. His kindness and willingness will always be cherished.
For the past 15 years, Mandy proudly poured her energy into helping Alyssa with "A Christmas Family Project," a homegrown effort to support coworkers in tough times-covering bills, putting food on the table, and making sure children had presents
under the tree. In that same spirit of giving, donations in Mandy's memory can be made to A Christmas Family Project or to the following charities: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Tunnels to Towers, Wounded Warrior Project, or disabled veterans of America.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 am Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, May 23, 2025, at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online at airsman-hires.com.

I am so sorry to hear about Mandys passing. I haven't seen her in so many years but Mel and don were my parents best friends and dear friends of mine. I watched both Mandy and Chris grow up. So sad that she is gone so young
