Manfred Dick

Manfred "Fred" Dick, age 71, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away on Thursday, December 16th, 2021. He was born in Mannheim, Germany on February 1, 1950 to Joseph and Anna Maria Dick and the family immigrated to Canada in 1952. Ten years later, the Dick family moved to Florida. In 1973 Fred married the love of his life, Marcia Woodruff, and they soon settled down in Fort Lauderdale. They were blessed with five children: Ryan, Stacey, Eric, Courtney and Adam.

To be sure, Fred was a born entrepreneur, perhaps drawing from his father. In 1976 he acted on that entrepreneurial instinct of his and started Gold Coast Car Rental, Inc. near the Fort Lauderdale airport. That business after some 45 years remains in the family to this day. And "family" was what Fred lived for. He was a devoted husband and loving father…..His Christian beliefs and faith in God were with him every step of the way. He also carried with him an innate sense of the importance of putting others first and with Marcia by his side was quick to do so. Fred shall be missed by all.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Marcia; children, Ryan (Sara) Dick, Stacey (Scott) McLain, Eric (Whitney) Dick, Courtney (Alex) O'Dell, and Adam (Kristin) Dick; grandchildren, Elise, Brody, Conrad and Chandler Dick, Kendall McLain, Charley, Barrett and Tucker Dick, Avery, Harper, Leighton and Emery O'Dell, Hudson and Charlotte Dick; and brother, Robert Dick. Fred is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Anna Maria.

The family will receive friends at Fred Hunter Funeral Home at 718 South Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale 33316, on Monday December 20th, 2021 from 10:00AM to 11:30AM, with a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30 AM, followed by interment at Lauderdale Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a donation be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
