On November 15, 2025, Manona Marilyn TenHulzen, passed away at the age of 98. Born on May 9, 1927, in Adams, Nebraska, Marilyn was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. She was a cherished daughter of Heiko Cooper and Adah Maupin Cooper, and a devoted wife to her late husband Alvin TenHulzen, with whom she celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Marilyn's journey through life was marked by a passionate spirit and a creative touch. Following her graduation from Adams High School, she taught at a Nebraskan country school, K-8th grade, for one year. With her love for sewing, she began making doll clothes for the Terry Lee Doll Company and later contributed her talents to Russell Stovers. With the desire to stay at home with her young children, she found a position stuffing envelopes for the Mail Advertisement Corporation from her home. She and her young daughters spent hours stuffing envelopes for magazines such as Time and Better Homes and Garden. She later worked for Continental Trailways and the University of Nebraska Press. To conclude her working career, Marilyn became assistant to the budget officer at the University of Nebraska, where she retired gracefully at the age of 65.
In 2013, Marilyn relocated to
Anderson, South Carolina, where she continued to share her many talents and passions. She was an avid seamstress and quilter, enjoyed gardening, knitting, and crocheting, and had a knack for antiquing and home decorating. A proud Nebraska football fan, she never missed a game. As a dedicated member of Concord Baptist Church, she found joy and support in her church family, attending Bible study at Morningside and forming deep connections that enriched her life.
Marilyn's greatest pride and joy, however, were her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Glenda TenHulzen, Carla Reiter and her husband David, and Jody Delord and her husband Mitch; her son-in-law, Ron Pfeiffer; her daughter-in-law, Jayne TenHulzen; her brother, Don Cooper and his wife Delores; as well as 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and 8 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Alvin, her daughter Sandra Pfeiffer, her son Craig TenHulzen, and her sister Juniece Williford.
A celebration of Marilyn's remarkable life will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at The McDougald Funeral Home, where family and friends will gather from 1 PM to 3 PM. A memorial service will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska, with burial to follow at Holland Cemetery, Holland, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Concord Baptist Church, reflecting Marilyn's unwavering dedication to her faith and community. Let us come together to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman who filled our lives with love, warmth, and joy.
